I’m Rhiannon Thomas, a professional leatherworker based in the Tweed Valley, Northern NSW. I grew up in rural New Zealand in the hippy culture of the 80’s, learning to craft, use knives and skin animals. After years in the corporate branding agency world in London, Dubai and Singapore, I settled in Australia, returned to leathercraft and started Notch Leather Goods, a small studio and shop that sold thousands of pieces.

Today I make leather for screen, teach hands-on workshops and create pieces that carry their own story. I honour traditional technique, but my style is contemporary. Always curious, I follow personal projects wherever they lead, from wearable art to harnesses and handbags. ‘Perfectly Tarnished’, made with Rae Saheli, won Best Emerging Artist at the Australian Wearable Arts Festival 2023.

Whether I’m making a prop for a production or leading a workshop, I’m always creating and sharing the craft.

Beyond the brief

Personal projects, wearable art. For the love of it, always evolving.
